Builders in Murrayfield
Builders in Murrayfield, the EH12 villa streets around Murrayfield Stadium, between Roseburn and Corstorphine Road.
Neighbourhoods
Murrayfield lies west of Haymarket and east of Corstorphine. The stadium occupies the middle. Houses stand on Murrayfield Road, Murrayfield Avenue, Ellersly Road, Garscube Terrace and the Roseburn streets beside the Water of Leith. Corstorphine Road, still the A8, is the southern edge. Roseburn is the small centre at the east end, by the old railway path.
Building stock
Stone villas and large semis set back from the road are typical, with shorter terraces nearer Roseburn. Gardens are larger than in the New Town and the houses are individual dwellings rather than colony flats or dock conversions. The stadium is not housing; the residential work is on the streets around it.
Access and parking
When the stadium has a match or a concert, the surrounding streets are restricted and crowded. On an ordinary day the parking is residential, and more houses have a drive than on a tenement street. Corstorphine Road is the busy edge and a bad place to wait. Roseburn’s small junction is tight. The old railway path is for walking and cycling.
Travel from our office
Murrayfield is on the A8 west of Haymarket, before that road becomes St John’s Road in Corstorphine. From the office at 102 Gilmerton Dykes Crescent you either cross the city to Haymarket and continue west, or use the western part of the ring road and come back east along the A8. The stadium is the landmark, not the destination for a house call.
