Builders in Inverleith
Builders in Inverleith, the park and villa streets between Stockbridge and Ferry Road, beside the Royal Botanic Garden.
Neighbourhoods
Inverleith sits north of Stockbridge, between the Water of Leith and Ferry Road. Inverleith Park and the Royal Botanic Garden occupy much of the map. Houses are grouped on Inverleith Place, Inverleith Row, Arboretum Place, Arboretum Road and the Warriston streets. Goldenacre is the east edge, toward Trinity and Ferry Road’s shops.
Building stock
Villas and stone terraces look onto the park and the garden wall of the Botanics. Plots on Inverleith Place are wider than a New Town burgh plot, often with a front garden and a hedge rather than a basement area. Closer to the river there are smaller colony-type flats. It is not a shopping tenement street and it is not a post-war estate.
Access and parking
Roads along the park fill when the Botanics, the playing fields or a weekend match at Goldenacre draw visitors. The residential streets are quieter, but kerbside space is still largely permitted and garden walls leave few gaps to pull a vehicle off the carriageway. Inverleith Row is the through road. The park paths and the garden gates are not a route for building materials.
Travel from our office
Inverleith is on the north side of the city centre. The Gilmerton office, 102 Gilmerton Dykes Crescent, is on the opposite side of Edinburgh, so the journey is across town to Inverleith Row. Ferry Road runs along the north edge and is the lateral approach from Leith or from Craigleith.
