Luxury Basement Conversion & Structural Engineering
Project Overview
Converting a New Town basement is a complex engineering task involving deep excavation, structural tanking (waterproofing), and significant underpinning.
We implemented a Type C cavity drainage membrane system to ensure 100% moisture protection, along with a sophisticated ventilation system to maintain air quality.
A key architectural challenge was maximising natural light, which we solved by deepening the front and rear light-wells and installing full-height glazing.
Key Deliverables
- Structural underpinning and excavation
- Type C cavity drainage waterproofing
- High-spec light-well optimization
- Underfloor heating and heat recovery ventilation
- Acoustic soundproofing between floors
